Our take
Brita's Elite (formerly Longlast+) filter is the mass-market option that actually holds NSF P473 certification for PFAS. Roughly 120 gallons per filter (~6 months for a 2-person household), which is 3x the standard Brita Standard line. The pitcher is plastic — that is the trade-off versus glass-housed alternatives — but the per-gallon filtered cost is the lowest in the category.
Pros
- NSF P473 certified for PFOA + PFOS
- Lowest filtered-water cost-per-gallon in our list
- Filters available everywhere
Cons
- Plastic pitcher
- Filter is plastic-housed
- Slower flow than the standard Brita filter
